The purpose of the Welder/Fitter position is to fabricate, fit, assemble, and weld metal components and assemblies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role supports manufacturing by ensuring structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and timely completion of welded assemblies while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
The Welder/Fitter will interact with all levels of the organization including supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and fellow production employees. This role reports to the Shop Foreman.
This role is currently vacant and is being filled due to an existing position becoming available.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols
- Lay out, fit, and tack components prior to welding to ensure proper alignment and tolerances
- Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding processes as required
- Select appropriate welding equipment, materials, and techniques based on job requirements
- Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, drills, presses, and other shop tools
- Ensure welds meet quality, strength, and appearance standards
- Inspect finished welds and assemblies for accuracy and defects
- Perform rework or repairs as required to meet specifications
- Maintain dimensional accuracy using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules
- Maintain accurate completion of work orders and related documentation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area

Assist with material handling, including moving and positioning parts and assemblies
- Safety Specific:

- Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and company safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for the role
- Participate in safety training, including regular emergency drills
- Follow all guidelines for the safe operation of tools, machinery, and vehicles
- Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses immediately
- Actively look for and report potential hazards in the workplace
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, free of potential hazards
- Practice proper ergonomics to prevent strain injuries
- Adhere to office safety procedures, including emergency evacuation routes, fire drills, and building safety protocols
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Certified or experienced Fitter/Welder preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years of fitting and welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Proficiency in MIG welding required; TIG and Stick welding considered an asset
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Forklift and/or overhead crane experience considered an asset
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Good planning, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
