Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, leading a crew, and ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
The Lead Carpenter is the on-site leader and plays a key role in keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Perform rough and finish carpentry to a high standard within allotted timelines
- Lead and supervise a team of carpenters and labourers on-site
- Coordinate daily tasks and ensure efficient workflow
- Communicate clearly with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and clients
- Stay up to date on project scope, schedules, change orders, and revisions
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and project specifications
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times
- Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
- Hold team members accountable for performance, conduct, and workmanship
- Problem-solve on-site issues independently and proactively
- Oversee and coordinate subcontractors as needed
- Track and report progress, including maintaining accurate job records
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of carpentry experience
- Proven experience in custom home building or residential renovations
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong understanding of construction methods and best practices
- Knowledge of job site safety standards and procedures
- Ability to work independently and make decisions on-site
- Valid driver’s license required
