About the opportunity
We’re a growing organization looking for a detail-oriented payroll and benefits professional to join our People & Culture team. Reporting to the Head of People and Culture, you’ll play a meaningful role in ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time, and that their benefits experience is smooth from day one. This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll be one of the go-to people for benefits inquiries, a key partner in payroll operations, and an essential support to the broader HR function.

If you’re someone who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys variety in your work, and wants to grow within a collaborative team, this is a great next step in your career.

What you’ll be doing

Benefits Administration
•    Administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, life insurance, and RRSP/DPSP plans.
•    Process benefit enrolments, changes, and terminations in a timely and accurate manner.
•    Serve as the first point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, liaising with providers as needed.
•    Support the annual benefits renewal process and open enrolment communications.

Payroll Processing & Support
•    Process bi-weekly payroll as backup to the Payroll Specialist, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
•    Support payroll data entry including new hires, terminations, status changes, and pay adjustments.
•    Assist with payroll reconciliation, remittances, and year-end processing (T4s, ROEs).
•    Maintain payroll records and ensure HRIS data integrity.
•    Act as the primary payroll contact during Payroll Specialist absences.

HR Administration
•    Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, documentation, and HR files.
•    Support onboarding and offboarding logistics, including offer letters, orientation materials, and exit documentation.
•    Assist with HRIS maintenance, reporting, and data audits.
•    Provide general administrative support to the People & Culture team.

What You Bring

•    1–3 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
•    Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, employment standards, and statutory requirements.
•    Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy with numerical data.
•    Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
•    Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
•    Professional discretion and a genuine commitment to confidentiality.
•    Clear, confident communication and strong interpersonal skills.

Nice to Have
•    Experience with Payroll Guardian or a similar payroll system.
•    Experience in a mid-sized organization (100–500 employees).
•    Familiarity with group benefit plan administration.
•    Background in wholesale distribution or manufacturing environments.
