Local Payroll and Benefits Administrator

JOB PURPOSE:
The Payroll and Benefits Administrator has a good understanding of payroll practices and Canadian payroll legislation. This role is responsible for the administrative function of payroll and benefits related tasks for a population of approximately 350 employees. The Payroll and Benefits Administrator also maintains confidential employee records, and ensures payroll data is collected, input, processed, balanced, and verified. This role responds to payroll and benefits queries in a professional and timely manner assuming full responsibility and resolution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll:

• Day-to-day management of all Payroll issues
• Ensure comprehensive understanding of and adherence to all Payroll and HR policies and procedures as well as external influences such as employment legislation
• Verify and process payroll inputs for 350+ employees weekly and semi-monthly
• Act as the Time and Attendance System coordinator in Kronos
• Maintain Payroll database on a timely basis, from employee set up, changes and termination
• Registering and resetting employees on Payroll platform
• Process system terminations and manage ROE distribution for employees
• Provide clear and timely communication to all employees regarding payroll e.g updates, deadlines, requests
• Monitor and analyze payroll data for continuous improvement opportunities and trends
• Investigate and resolve any Payroll issues
• Preparation and submission of payroll deductions and remittances ie. Garnishments, Family Support etc.
• Create and/or run reports from payroll systems
• Prepare payroll updates and changes on a weekly and semi-monthly basis
• Maintain vacation records for both factory (as per local CBA) and salaried employees
• Administer incentive bonus for hourly employees
• Send salary payroll inputs through to Canada Payroll SME
• Process and prepare Government Tax related forms as required

Hourly Benefits Administration:

• Provide day-to-day benefits administration services such as enrolling new hires and processing updates and changes to employee information
• Assist employees with any claim issues
• Updating terminations
• Maintaining accurate taxable benefit premiums in payroll to reflect any changes.
• Disability Claims Administration
• Provide employees with information regarding their disability benefits
• Fill out the Company portion of disability paperwork and liaise with disability benefits administer (Sunlife)
• Liaise with the company’s Sunlife Representative regarding claims
• Liaise with internal/external stakeholders regarding Return to Work programs
• Provide WSIB payroll hour reports to H&S as requested.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred and relevant experience in payroll processing and related systems.
• Experience using Kronos and/or Ultimate Software is preferred.
• Experience working in a unionized environment an asset.
• You will thrive in this position if you are detail oriented and very well organized as well as enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
• Time management, intermediate excel skills, and excellent communication and organization are essential to this role.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $71,000 CAD to $106,600 CAD. The Magnum Ice Cream Company takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
