Description

Position Summary

The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a critical role in the Company’s financial reporting and close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. This position is responsible for leading key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis. 

This role serves as a key contributor within the Corporate Accounting team, partnering cross-functionally with operations, FP&A, tax, and external auditors to ensure financial results are complete, accurate, and well understood. The Senior Corporate Accountant will also support internal controls (SOX), drive process improvements, and help enhance reporting efficiency in a dynamic, publicly traded manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytically strong, and capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Lead and execute key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process 
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions 
  • Perform and review account reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items 
  • Perform detailed variance analysis (month-over-month, quarter-over-quarter, and budget vs. actual) and provide insights to management 
  • Analyze general ledger activity and investigate unusual or unexpected fluctuations 

General Ledger & Technical Accounting

  • Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies 
  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger across key accounts including cash, receivables, accruals, and reserves 
  • Support technical accounting matters and implementation of new accounting standards, as needed 
  • Assist in maintaining and improving accounting policies and procedures 
  • Oversee and reconcile the Accounts Receivable subledger to the general ledger, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Partner with the Accounts Receivable function to investigate and resolve discrepancies, aging issues, unapplied cash, and billing variances
  • Support analysis and recording of reserves, including allowance for doubtful accounts, in accordance with U.S. GAAP

SEC Reporting & Compliance

  • Support preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K), including footnote disclosures and supporting schedules 
  • Assist with earnings support and other external financial reporting requirements 
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, including documentation, testing support, and remediation efforts 
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to support audits and reviews 

Cash & Bank Reconciliations

  • Perform and review monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts 
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner 
  • Collaborate with Treasury and Finance teams to ensure accurate cash reporting 

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability 
  • Develop and maintain standardized reporting tools and templates 

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with plant operations, supply chain, FP&A, and other departments to ensure accurate financial data 
  • Support business initiatives with financial insights and analysis 
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to other accounting staff, as applicable 



Requirements

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required 
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred 

Experience

  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting + industry preferred) 
  • Experience in a publicly traded company or strong exposure to SEC reporting highly preferred 
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or cost accounting experience preferred 

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements 
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred; SAP/Oracle acceptable) 
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis; Power Query a plus) 
  • Experience with financial reporting tools and systems is a plus

  • Occasional standing, walking, or moving within an office environment 
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, video conferencing, and in person 
  • May require extended work hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, particularly during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles 
  • Ability to work on-site at the Company’s Greenwood Village, CO office as required to support collaboration, business operations, and close cycles
